Throughout September, we're inviting all singers to come along and take part in our preparations for our next concert on 11 November. It's essentially a recruitment drive. The SLS needs new blood, and we hope that by opening up our rehearsals to everyone who is interested, we shall attract fresh talent to our ranks. There's a poster on our home page, but in case you would like more information, just email our membership secretary for details or ring 020 8656 2815. If you love singing and are looking for a local choir to join, just come along on Mondays throughout September and sample an SLS rehearsal.
On Saturday 15 July at Beckenham Methodist Church, the South London Singers completed their 35th season with their much anticipated concert performance of Purcell’s opera Dido and Aeneas, followed by a spirited rendering of Greg Gilpin's 'Choral Revue', a selection of Harold Arlen and 'Yip' Harburg's songs from The Wizard of Oz. John Nightingale attended the performance. His report is here.
On Saturday 3 June the South London Singers travelled to the Kentish village of East Malling to give a performance of choral favourites entitled ‘Music for a Summer Evening’. The programme was a great success, but don’t just take our word for it. Read John Nightingale’s excellent review on our new Archive pages.
