On Saturday 16 December 2017, the South London Singers gave a concert of Carols for Charity. This year we were supporting the work of St Christopher's Hospice. Founded in 1967 by its inspirational director Dame Cicely Saunders (1918–2005), St Christopher's was celebrating its 50th anniversary. It was a great honour to aid this remarkable organisation, which supports more than 3,000 terminally ill people each year, not only at its in-patient unit at its Anniversary Centre in Sydenham and the Caritas Centre in Bromley but also in the patients' own homes through its community services. The SLS concert was well received, as you can read in our report here.
On Saturday 3 March 2018 the South London Singers will be giving the first of two spring concerts. It will take place in a new venue for us. St Mary the Virgin Church, Wickham Street, Welling. This church was built in 1954–55.. Externally, it is Italian Romanesque in character; its interior is, however, in a Greek Revivalist style and consists of a narthex, nave and shallow sanctuary.
On Saturday 19 May 2018 the SLS will join forces with the Elm Singers in a collaborative concert at a venue to be announced. The programmes for these two concerts are still being finalised and will be posted on our Website in due course. Keep an eye on our Concerts Page.
