Farewell to Julian Collings on 2nd February

We are sorry to announce that Saturday 2 February 2019 witnessed Julian Collings's final concert as Director of the South London Singers, as he is leaving to take up a new appointment elsewhere in London.

Julian has been with us for nearly six years during which time we have enjoyed adding music by composers such as John Tavener, Arvo Pärt, Leonard Bernstein and George Shearing to our existing repertoire of more traditional fare. Particular highlights have been our 'Witches and Wizards' concert of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas coupled with a selection from The Wizard of Oz, a  programme marking American Independence Day and memorable concerts in country churches in Wiltshire and Kent.

We thank Julian for all the enjoyable rehearsals and concerts that he has conducted with us and wish him well in his new endeavours. You can read an appreciation By Alan Tod of Julian's time as Director of the SLS on our Features page.

The choir is delighted that Marcus Wibberley, Director of Music at St George's Church, has accepted our invitation to conduct our summer concert on 1 June and take the rehearsals leading up to the performance. We look forward to working with Marcus. More information about this concert will be available soon.
